School Dinners

Our school meals are only made from

  • fresh meat and poultry sourced from the Yorkshire region
  • fruit and vegetables, sourced regionally where possible using local suppliers
  • products free from additives associated with health problems in young children
  • fats free from hydrogenated oils
  • menus which are nutritionally analysed to provide nutritional balance
  • ingredients, produced freshly every day in a school kitchen

School lunches cost £2.10 a day for two courses (£10.50 a week), payable by ParentPay. We are happy to accept payment for the week, month, half term or term and:

  • have a three menu cycle allowing children to become familiar with the food served;
  • are changed every term to reflect the seasons; and
  • are written in consultation with pupils and cooks

Free school meals

Free school meals are available to some children according to family income.  It’s important to register for entitlement to free school meals, even if your child has a packed lunch – this is so we can receive additional funding (called the pupil premium) which we can use to help your child.

Children are entitled to Free School Meals if their parents, carers or guardians receive any of the following:

  • Income support
  • Income based job seekers allowance
  • Income related employment and support allowance
  • Guarantee pension credit
  • Child Tax Credit, but not Working Tax Credit, and an annual income lower than the limit set by the Government
  • Working Tax Credit Run On because you have ceased work or reduced your working hours to less than 16 per week

Packed lunches

Alternatively, children may bring a packed lunch.  This should be in a secure named container.  A drink should be provided in a non breakable container.  No sweets or fizzy drinks are allowed – instead, we encourage lots of fruit, vegetables and water.

Milk

A daily small carton of milk can be bought in advance. It costs £12 for the entire school year, or £5 if paid each term.

Children who have milk usually drink it just before or after their morning playtime.
