Our Own Swimming Pool

At Willow Tree, all children from year 1 to year 5 swim in our own onsite swimming pool, once a week. The National Curriculum states that by the end of Key Stage 2 all children should be able to swim a minimum distance of 25 metres unaided.

Swimming is not just good for children’s health; it is a skill that could ultimately save their lives. Drowning is the third most common cause of accidental death in children so it is vital that every child has the opportunity to learn to swim and gain core knowledge regarding water safety.

Children need to bring appropriate named swim wear, named towel, swim hat (available from the office) and goggles if needed

In 2012 at the North Yorkshire School Games Willow Tree Primary School represented Harrogate and acheived first place overall.
