Every parent of a child attending Willow Tree is automatically a member of the PTFA.  However, there are different levels of commitment to membership of the PTFA, however it’s important that all parents are active members of the PTFA.

The highest level of commitment is the PTFA Committee.  These positions are elected every year at the AGM and include; Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, Vice Treasurer, Secretary and Vice Secretary.  The committee members attend meetings throughout the year, plan events and lots of hands on work with school and other active PTFA members.    There are also lots of parents who attend meetings who are not committee members.  These parents are actively involved in planning events and bringing new ideas to the table.  The meetings are relaxed, casual and normally in the pub!  This makes them a great way to meet other parents and build new friendships.

The PTFA also could not function without the lovely volunteers who help at events.  Volunteers give up a couple of hours of their time to run refreshments, cake stalls or run a stall at fairs.  Again, it’s a great way to meet other parents from different parts of the school as you buddy up to run the tombola!

Then there are parents with specialist skills.  That may be in marketing, public relations or even carpentry!  This work can generally be done at home with communication via email and phone.

Finally the level of commitment we need from the majority of parents, supporting the events!  Whether it be sending in donations, or attending the events themselves, it’s the crucial part of the fundraising, and all the money raised goes towards the betterment of your child’s educational environment.
