Sports Premium Funding

Willow Tree Primary School are proud to announce that through the hard work and commitment of the staff, children and parents we have achieved the Silver Kitemark for the Year 2014-15 and the Youth Sport Trust Silver Quality Mark in 2016.

Throughout the year our Sports Premium Funding has paid towards:

  • Employing specialist teachers to work alongside teachers in lessons to increase subject knowledge and confidence in PE especially Gymnastics.
  • Providing cover staff to release teachers for professional development in PE and sport.
  • Employing expert advice to establish the school's current strengths in school sport and implement plans for improvement.
  • Develop teacher expertise in planning and assessment for PE across the school.
  • Estabishing a sustainable partnership with local community sports links e.g. taster days during our sports      week. This has helped introduce more unusual activities such as diving and basketball.

This has resulted in:

  • Pupils' increased participation in National School games competitions.
  • Enabled our Y6 Primary Crew to lead a Chage4Life club giving children from Y3/4 the opportunity to      actively participate during lunchtimes .
  • Creating stronger links with the School Sports Partnership giving the opportunity for children including those with mobility difficulties to take part in a wider variety of competitions and festivals at a local and county level.
  • Improves teacher confidence in the planning and teaching of PE.

Harrogate Diving Club also worked with school and identified a number of KS2 children to take part in their Diving Programme.

Future Plans for our Sports funding include purchasing an improved range of equipment to support the wider range of activities we are offering and updating the school sports hall equipment.

Children from KS1 and KS2 have taken part in a wide range of extra curricular sports clubs this year including:

  • Football
  • Cricket
  • Karate
  • Athletics
  • Multi Skills
  • Gymnastics
  • Kwiksticks
  • Cross Country Running
